Hand-Painted Photographs

The artwork in this series represents an exploration in combining two forms of artistic expression - painting and photography.  The images here involve my own analog photographs to which I have applied wet & dry media, along with various household solvents, to create works that are neither photographs nor paintings, but a hybrid of the two.

This process of altering and manipulating existing images creates a sense of transformation and loss of the original photograph. This technique is also a metaphor for the way memories fade or change over time.
